The Mississippi Valley League was a class D league which ran from 1922-1933, playing its last year as a class B league. There were 8 teams from Iowa and 5 from Illinois.

For the first time since 1916 Ottumwa had a baseball team. Behind managers Jim Drohan and Carl Bond, the Ottumwa Cardinals finished in 5th place.
